Check Your Frame – Preseason Mountain Bike Checklist | Part 1

August 26, 2019

Hey everybody, Jans Expert Scott House here. We’re going to go through some quick steps for a preseason bike check. The first thing you want to do is give
your frame a visual inspection. Make sure to look for cracks, dents, chips
and scrapes. If you notice anything suspicious contact your local bike shop and have them give you a second opinion. If everything looks good on inspection, you can move on to checking your bolts. It’s important to make sure all the bolts on your bike are tightened to manufacturer specifications before you ride. Specifications can be found on bike
manufacturer websites, or in your manual. Go through each bolt working from front to back, top to bottom making sure everything is properly tightened. Do not over-tighten any bolts as it can cause damage to your parts or frame. If you are nervous, or not sure how tight
something needs to be contact your local bike shop for support. Hopefully this helps you get your bike on the trail for spring and summer. If you have any questions visit us at jans.com Or call Jans Park Avenue Bike Shop at 435-649-4949
