6:06 now making a big difference for kids in foster care Governor Matt Bevin will sign a foster children’s bill of rights into law this afternoon WX 18s Alex Valverde is live here in the studio she has more now on this story happening today well Claire and Chris the bill was signed by the governor back in March under an emergency but today he’ll host a signing ceremony where he and other speakers will talk more about what exactly it means for these kids now there are 16 statutory rights including the right to adequate food clothing shelter and a safe secure and stable family the law also includes freedom from physical sexual or emotional injury or exploitation and it requires placement homes and placement agency employees to have background checks now one man who helped push the bill to the governor’s desk was Cameron Galloway a KSU student who was in the foster care system from just two years old foster you don’t have rights but the foster parents have rights so right now we’re just trying to get on the same page as a foster parents the governor will hold that signing ceremony today at 2 o’clock at the State Capitol Chris and Claire all right thank you so much Alex
