Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says he’s
determined to sign a peace treaty with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during
his term. Abe made the comments at the Eastern Economic
Forum in Vladivostok, noting Tokyo and Moscow have been able to achieve more in bilateral
relations over the past year than within the past 70 years. The two leaders also agreed to focus on a
set of economic projects on the Kuril Islands, which is held by Russia, but claimed by Japan.
