NEEDED. ONE MAN GOT A WATER BILL WHO
WENT THROUGH THE ROOF. ONE JACKSON HOMEOWNER RECENTLY
GOT AN EYE-POPPING WATER BILL
FOR $12,000.>>THE TOTAL CURRENT CHARGES FOR
ONE MONTH ARE $12,785.80. THESE ARE THE TYPES OF THINGS
THAT OUR RATEPAYERS MUST BE
SAFEGUARDED FROM. ROSS: HOW DOES SOMEBODY GET A
WATER BILL FOR $12,000? IS THE SYSTEM THAT SCREWED UP?>>WELL, WE HAVE A LOT OF WORK
TO DO, AND WE’VE COME A LONG
WAY. WE HAVE A LONG WAYS TO GO, AND
SO WE HAVE TO KEEP WORKING AND
KEEP PUSHING UNTIL WE CAN

BEFORE. NOW IT’S $12,000. ROSS: STAMPS TOLD US THIS IS
PROOF THAT THE COUNCIL SHOULD
PASS A LAW TO PUT TEETH INTO THE
MAYOR’S NEW EXECUTIVE ORDER THAT
CREATES A BILL OF RIGHTS THAT
PROTECTS WATER CUSTOMERS.>>IT NEEDS TO BE CODIFIED AND
TRANSCEND ADMINISTRATIONS SO
THAT WE CAN HAVE LIFELONG AND
GENERATIONAL SAFEGUARDS FOR OUR
RATEPAYERS. ROSS: COUNCILMAN KENNY STOKES
SAID HE’S NOT SURE A BILL OF
RIGHTS IS THE ANSWER.>>RIGHT NOW I WOULD LIKE TO
FOLLOW THE LAW WE HAVE ON THE
