Refrigerator Repair- Replacing the Crisper Drawer Cover and Shelf Frame (Whirlpool Part # 2161491)

October 23, 2019

Hi, it’s Steve from PartSelect. Today we’re
going to show you how to change the crisper drawer cover & shelf frame on your refrigerator.
It’s a really easy job; no tools required. Let me show you how we do it. Now to replace this part we simply need to
open up the refrigerator section, empty out these two crispers, we’ll remove the top
one first, start by taking the crisper drawer out, lift the glass shelf out, and then we’ll
lift up on the front of the shelf, pull it forward, and remove that. Do the same for the bottom crisper, remove
the crisper, the glass, and again lift up on the front of that shelf, pull it forward,
and remove it. There are two elongated slots on the back
end of that shelf you need to line them up with the shelf pins on the back, and then
lock them into the two pins on the front. Replace the glass. Slide the crisper into
place. same thing with the upper crisper, two elongated
holes there, slide them into the pins, lock them in on the front, replace the glass & the
crisper, and our repair is complete. Told you it was an easy job. Thanks for watching,
and good luck with your repair.

  1. steve, I have a different issue I just discovered – my GE Profile PFSS6PKXSS (3.5 yrs old) started dripping water from the back wall protrusion of the fridge into the deli drawer and underneath it . A sheet of ice formed under the deli bin on top of the freezer (freezer below) I havent taken it apart yet, just gotten all of the exposed ice removed. Assume the evap is behind that? From what I have researched it sounds like a defrost drain hole frozen up or clogged? Advice?
