Trump’s Constitution-Violating Hotel May Soon Be for Sale – Fox News

October 27, 2019

Donald Trump has spent the entirety of his time in Washington flagrantly and shamelessly profiting off of the presidency, all the while claiming it’s costing him a fortune The most obvious example of this arrangement, of course, is the cash he rakes in through his various for-profit properties, which he still owns He’s visited Mar-a-Lago more than a dozen times, hosting heads of state at the resort and talking up its amenities in the same breath as discussing bombing another country He used a state visit to the U.K. to pimp his money-losing golf club in Ireland, where he went out of his way to stay in June despite such an arrangement making no logistical sense He likewise suggested that Mike Pence stay at one of his properties abroad, despite the V P.’s official meetings being almost 200 miles away. And then there is the Trump International Hotel Washington, located less than a mile from the White House, where GOP lawmakers, corporate executives with business before the Justice Department, foreign government officials, and anyone looking to kiss the ring knows their money will go far “Why wouldn’t I stay at his hotel blocks from the White House, so I can tell the new president, ‘I love your new hotel!’ Isn’t it rude to come to his city and say, ‘I am staying at your competitor?’” an Asian diplomat told the Washington Post in 2016  And while Trump, and his adult sons who run the family business, have thus far cared not a whit about the ethical implications or possible Emoluments Clause violations posed by the Trump Organization, recently it seems the criticism has gotten to them Last week the president announced that he would not be holding the 2020 G7 summit at the Trump National Doral in Miami, after bestowing the resort with the honor, and now there’s this:Most PopularReport: Trump Genuinely Surprised That G7 Grift BackfiredBy Bess LevinOf Course Trump’s Washington Hotel Is Getting Special Treatment During the ShutdownBy Bess LevinPower Tripping in the Swamp: How Trump’s DC Hotel Swallowed WashingtonBy Zach EversonAdvertisement According to the * Journal,* “officials representing high-net-worth families and other investors domestic and from outside the U S. have toured the property in recent weeks.” In a statement, Eric Trump said that a number of groups have expressed interest in the property, and that the family is open to a sale because the haters can’t stand the fact that all the Trumps do is win “People are objecting to us making so much money on the hotel, and therefore we may be willing to sell,” he said Trump the Younger did not add that now might be an ideal time to sell, given that the brand may be increasingly tainted—more than it is already!—in the likely event that the president is impeached, but perhaps he was quietly thinking it to himself  If you would like to receive the Levin Report in your inbox daily, click here to subscribe  — How one industry is bleeding Wall Street dry of talent— Ronan Farrow’s producer reveals how NBC killed its Weinstein story— Ivanka’s $360 million deal is raising eyebrows at the FBI— The big turn for Elizabeth Warren’s campaign— Why a leading neurocriminologist left Joker completely stunned— The Fox News movie’s uncanny depictions of the network’s drama— From the Archive: The real-life story of the security guard turned bombing suspect at the heart of Clint Eastwood’s latest movie Looking for more?
