TX 17 District Constituents Bill of RIghts – Rick Kennedy

October 14, 2019

My name is Rick Kennedy and I’m running
to be your representative in the United States Congress. Today, I am releasing a Constituents’ Bill
of Rights. As you consider who you’re going to vote for
in November, I want you to know today the standards that I will uphold while in office and the standards I expect you
to hold me accountable to. On a fundamental level, it is disrespectful
for anyone to assume your vote. I am asking you to vote for me
regardless of your party. I’m asking you to vote for me so I can
represent your interests and I’m asking for your vote for me
so I can serve in Congress in the manner the Founding Fathers intended,
as a representative of the people. I come to you as a regular citizen, a father,
not a career politician, free of political obligations to special interests, with the
ability to function as a member of a Congress that is once again a co-equal branch of
government that works on your behalf. The Constituent Bill of Rights. You have the right to expect me to
perform the basic job requirements of a United States Representative, to honor my oath and to restore Congress as a
co-equal branch of government, fulfilling its constitutionally assigned
duties as a legislative body and as a check and balance on the
executive and judicial branches. You have the right to hold an
opposing opinion to mine and the right to express that opinion
without fear of reprisal. No blocking on social media, no being escorted
out of a meeting or a building by security. You have the right to in-person, public town
hall meetings so you can express your views. You have the right to meet me
at any of my offices. My door will always be open to a constituent. You have the right to expect an answer to
any communication to me. You have the right to expect me to identify
policies that will improve your life and the lives of your families and neighbors, to develop
a realistic roadmap to advance those policies, and to file original legislation
to implement those policies. You have the right to expect me to serve as
more than a mouthpiece to any political party. You have the right to expect me
to reach across the aisle to an opposing party to make progress on issues. You can find this on my website, RickKennedyforCongress.com. If you are among the 71% of the people in
the 17th District who range from feeling neutral or unfavorable about our congressman,
or not even knowing who he is, I welcome the opportunity to serve you. My door will always be open to you,
no matter where you live in the district, whether you donated to this campaign or not, whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat,
Libertarian or Independent. Whether you vote for me or not, my job is
to represent you. Period. Because you deserve a representative in Congress
that listens to you, not just the donors. You deserve a representative who values your input. You deserve a representative who
understands their Constitutional duty and who is accountable to you. I’m Rick Kennedy and I’m running for United
States Congress here in the 17th District and I’m asking for your vote. Thank you very much.
